More Sensitive Than I Thought

Dear Reader,

I admit I was bit shaken up by the latest bout of emails and comments. My time is precious, and this blog was supposed to be pure fun. It was my own personal space online where I could set the agenda and share my thoughts, stress-free. It felt fantastic for a while. Then suddenly a whole bunch of people came on board, many of whom did not take the time to find out what I was about. And it became a chore, not just to put out new content for readers on a regular basis, but also to tiptoe around issues to ensure I didn’t offend or otherwise alienate the diverse readership. There are too many people, both in Muslim and non-Muslim circles, who are ready to pounce on individuals based on what they say (and don’t say). I am currently re-evaluating my priorities and will soon let you know what I’ve decided to do. Regardless of whether or not I continue here, I assure you I will remain an active voice in the wider community. In the meantime, I want to take this opportunity to thank you for being a part of this very personal journey. It meant the world to me.

Sincerely,

Safiyyah

    Safiyah, you are bright girl!

Don't let these morons, who are in the business of hate affect you! Continue as you were! Your site gives me hope that their are still good persons out there, even in cyberworld!

Consider it a compliment that people take out their time to bash you! You must be doing something right! No?

Salaams and have a good day!Okay!

I only recently discovered your blog and I consider it to be one of the most inspiring I have come across on the web - straight up. Keep blogging dude, us stragglers and doubters need to hear voices like yours.

    Wasalaam

    Assalamu'alaykum Safiyyah,

Keep your intention to work (blog) for the sake of Allah, and don't let anyone change that.

Whatever you decide, I know I'll still hear your rants ;) Alhamdulillah.

    Wassalam,
    Your Sister,
    Salikah

    As-Salaamu 'alaikum,

It would be depressing to see another of the decent Muslim bloggers go down. I read this every day and it's always been interesting for me. The like of Flanny is something which affects anyone running a blog from time to time - he bothered me for a long while, and I kept deleting his comments. He is basically a stuck record who never posts anything original.

Why don't you make everyone register before they post comments? That way, you'll be able to keep out anons, as UZ does in fact.

I would certainly miss you if you left. I enjoy reading your thoughts and observations. And pictures of Moose are just a bonus!

I know that all hate is just a cover for fear. Folks who spread hate do so out of fear, and you are brilliant at helping folks (like me) overcome our fears.

I hope you choose to keep up the good.

    Love to you,
    Lyvvie

    Saffiyah--
First, I HEART your blog. Also, I had a similar issue and I almost stopped blogging, but then I decided that readership or no readership, my blog is my catharsis and my space and that I was going to write what I wanted and not what other people wanted, and I think you should do the same, because all these comments show that you have a loyal core of readers who like you just the way you are.
    Salam alaikoum!

"All that is necessary for stupid people to succeed is for good writers to blog nothing."

I'm paraphrasing here, but you get the idea.

    Safiyyah, please COME B-A-C-K!!!

Safiyyah, if I could write like you, I'd never ever stop. Look at the people commenting. They all want you back.

I'll be very disappointed if you decide to stop blogging. Your blogs are always fun to read. They're either interesting or entertaining or both.
